What is Supervision?

Supervision is a reflective process that provides a space for you to explore, reflect and develop your skills as a professional. The focus of your supervision session can vary, depending on your specific needs, and may include identifying professional development goals or addressing a specific work-related dilemma. In client-facing roles, supervision also provides a space to reflect on any emotional challenges that may arise in your work. Most people will benefit from having supervision sessions every 4-6 weeks.

What are the benefits of Supervision?

Supervision provides you with designated time to reflect and discuss your professional practice in a safe and confidential space. It is particularly useful in freelance and self-employed roles where the opportunity for this can be limited. Some of the benefits of Supervision include;

  • Identifying your personal and professional strengths
  • Identifying areas for development
  • An opportunity to discuss challenging aspects of your work
  • Exploring the impact your work has on you
  • An opportunity to reflect on your personal responses to work
  • Improved resilience and wellbeing

Credentials

I am a qualified Yoga Instructor (RYT 200) and BSL/English Interpreter (RSLI), giving me an in-depth understanding of the challenges of working in these fields. Additionally, I have a clinical background in working in mental health as a Psychiatrist. Although Supervision is not a therapeutic process, the skills I have developed in this field are beneficial in guiding reflective discussion and helping others focus on self-improvement and wellbeing. I have completed a Diploma in Supervision with 360 Supervision, for supervision of Interpreters and Allied Health Professionals.
